Maureen Fanning is the widow of former New York fireman Jack Fanning, who lost his life ten years ago today on September 11, 2001. Jack was the Chief of the Hazardous Materials Unit for the New York Fire Department and died in the World Trade Center Disaster in New York. Jack Fanning is designated an Autism Light posthumously and will be entered into the Autism Light Memorial Roll. His Bravest Memorial Entry provides information on his life. The New York Times also did a profile on Jack Fanning in 2002.
Maureen Fanning and her late husband Jack are the parents of two severely autistic sons, Sean and Patrick. Maureen Fanning will be featured with other widows and families of firefighters in the film From the Ground Up: 10 Years after 9/11. She has roles at several points in the following trailer, including the beginning dialogue, and at the 1:30 and 2:14 mark.
Maureen Fanning was also featured in a chapter called "Love Goes On" in the book A Day in the Life of the American Woman. The YouTube video below is the story done in 2006 from that book by the Massachusetts School of Law.
